For those who were unaware, we had a marvelous time at the Men's Retreat this past weekend (May 2-4, 2008). I know from my perspective, although I was one of the speakers, it proved to be a terrific time for the men. As I was thinking about the weekend I have a couple of take-aways......

1. My prayers in preparation centered around the men needing a fresh encounter with Jesus. I believe this happened on many fronts. I distinctly remember watching a small group of men huddled for more than an hour praying for one another and meeting the very important need of men to have godly, "manhood" relationships.

2. I saw the deep desire of men to be set free beginning to take place among those who attended. Be careful congregation, on fire men will forever change the face of the church!

3. For the 21 men who attended, God made himself tangible and renewed our commitment to him, to each other and to the life to which he has called us. Namely, manhood!

It was an honor to be with these men. I am waiting with anticipation for the fruit of the weekend to begin taking root in the church.
