Asas de Socorro, Brazil

Flag of Brazil

Asas de Socorro (translated ‘Wings of Help’) works to support Evangelical churches and organizations in remote and isolated areas of Brazil. It’s ministry combines aviation and humanitarian assistance for the purpose of sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ.

Joel and Michawn Ebersole were members of our Church, Hope Chapel, for several years while Joel trained for his pilot’s license. Then in 2008 they were accepted as part of the ministry of Asas de Socorro. They and their four active children now live in the city of Anapolis, central Brazil. Joel, who was born in Brazil, was already fluent in Portugese, but Michawn and the children were not daunted by the challenge of learning a new language and can now communicate efficiently.

Joel is a third generation missionary who spent his childhood in Brazil and always had a vision for serving God via aviation to the many villages in the isolated and desolate areas of this nation. He recently took the position of Technical Director for the Anapolis Aviation Maintenance and Mission Center.

This ministry supports Amazon missionaries by providing transport and medical help. The also aid with planting new churches and community  projects and recruit doctors, dentists and nurses to treat Amazonian people.
